چکیده

The upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires justification of data activities to acquire, use, share, and store data using consent obtained from the user. Failure to comply may result in significant heavy fines which incentivises creation and maintenance of records for all activities involving consent and data. Compliance documentation therefore requires provenance information outlining consent and data lifecycles to demonstrate correct usage of data in accordance with the related consent provided and updated by the user. In this paper, we present GDPRov, a linked data ontology for expressing provenance of consent and data lifecycles with a view towards documenting compliance. GDPRov is an OWL2 ontology that extends PROV-O and P-Plan to model the provenance, and uses SPARQL to express compliance related

Compliance through Informed Consent: Semantic Based Consent Permission and Data Management Model

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) imposes greater restrictions on obtaining valid user consents involving the use of personal data. A semantic model of consent can make the concepts of consent explicit, establish a common understanding and enable re-use of consent. Therefore, forming a semantic model of consent will satisfy the GDPR requirements of specificity and unambiguity and i...

Linked Data Contracts to Support Data Protection and Data Ethics in the Sharing of Scientific Data

In light of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) [1] there are certain challenges in relation to the sharing of scientific data. For a data controller in a research institute, the requirement to monitor, implement and demonstrate conformance to the provisions of data subjects’ rights represents a major upshift in the complexity of research data management. We are trying to addre...

Modelling provenance of DBpedia resources using Wikipedia contributions

DBpedia is one of the largest datasets in the Linked Open Data cloud. Its centrality and its cross-domain nature makes it one of the most important and most referred to knowledge bases on the Web of Data, generally used as a reference for data interlinking. Yet, in spite of its authoritative aspect, there is no work so far tackling the provenance aspect of DBpedia statements. By being extracted...

Pushing the CIDOC-Conceptual Reference Model towards Linked Open Data by Open Annotations

By using a novel modelling approach, we demonstrate how the Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) of ICOM’s International Committee for Documentation (CIDOC) can be complemented using the Open Annotation Data Model (OADM) in order to create semantically rich annotations. We show that domain knowledge can be combined with meaningful and linked data exposed in the so-called Web of Data (aka semantic W...

From Scientific Workflow Patterns to 5-star Linked Open Data

Scientific Workflow management systems have been largely adopted by data-intensive science communities. Many efforts have been dedicated to the representation and exploitation of provenance to improve reproducibility in data-intensive sciences. However, few works address the mining of provenance graphs to annotate the produced data with domain-specific context for better interpretation and shar...
